How to Create an A/B Test in Fibr?

Video Tutorial

This guide provides a step-by-step process to create an A/B testing campaign on Fibr. Ensure your website is validated on Fibr before starting. Detailed instructions on website validation and Fibr script addition are available as separate docs.

Ensure that the Fibr script is already added and validated on the Web Pilot Set Up page before creating personalization for your website.

This tutorial outlines the steps for creating individual experiments. To implement multiple experiments at scale, please visit this page, where you can utilize the Bulk Creation feature for A/B Testing.

  1. Navigate to the A/B testing section on the left-hand navigation bar. Click on the "New Campaign" button at the top right corner.

  2. Paste the website URL for which you would like to create an A/B test campaign and name it. Click on "Create."

  3. You will arrive at the A/B testing creation flow. The top of the page contains the campaign name, URL, and a progress indicator. The first step is to create variants. The original variant, which is the unchanged version of the website, currently has a 100% traffic split.

  4. Click on the "Add a Variant" button.

  5. The website will open in a new tab. Note: Any changes made to elements on the desktop screen will be applied to the mobile screen, provided the elements are the same. Click on "Done."

  6. Make the necessary changes to the test version of the website. For instance, select an element and modify its text. You can also generate text using Fibr's AI feature to create appropriate content based on the context.

  7. Apply the generated text. The changes will be automatically applied.

  8. You can customize the text further, including changing the font, size, weight, color, alignment, and other styles. Explore these options to personalize the website.

  9. Click outside the element to save your changes. Repeat this process for any other elements you want to modify on the website.

  10. Preview your changes before finishing. Fibr allows you to preview the mobile version as well.

  11. Click on "Finish" once you are satisfied with the changes.

  12. Set up a tracking event, which is a crucial step in the campaign creation process. Fibr needs this to understand which event counts as a conversion.

  13. Click on "Track Event" and return to the desktop view. Select the button or element that should be counted as a conversion. Click on it, then select "Track Clicks" and create a new metric.

  14. Name the metric (e.g., "Try for Free CTA"). Fibr will track this as a conversion whenever users click on it.

  15. Click on "Finish." You will be taken back to the creation screen. Here, you will see the original and the created variant. The traffic split will be automatically adjusted to 50-50. You can edit this distribution, but ensure the total is 100%.

  16. Preview the variant in both mobile and desktop versions. You also have the option to edit or delete variants as needed. You can create additional variants if required.

  17. Next, configure the audience section. By default, Fibr includes all visitors, with a 50% split between the original and the variant. You can customize this by specifying conditions, such as only visitors from New York.

  18. Refer to our documentation and videos for detailed instructions on audience segmentation.

  19. The metric section will display the "Try for Free CTA" metric tracked earlier. This is the primary metric for evaluating the A/B test's statistical significance. Additional details are available in our support materials.

  20. If you have configured Google Tag Manager (GTM) metrics, they will appear here. You can select any of these metrics as needed.

  21. Set the traffic allocation, determining the overall percentage of visitors to include in the test. For instance, if your site receives 100 visitors daily and you want only 20 to be part of the test, set the allocation to 20%.

  22. Enable email notifications if desired. Scroll to the top and choose to schedule the campaign at a specific time or start immediately.
